The Trove Inspire Fill-in-the-Blank AI Auto Evaluation Tool assists teachers with evaluating fill-in-the-blank (FIB) assessment answers. This tool evaluates the student’s answer based on the ideal answer indicated during question creation, giving credit for student answers that are nearly and obviously correct but not exact. For example, format differences (such as two for too) or incorrect spellings (such as increese for increase) are counted correct, potentially saving the teacher significant grading time where exact format or spelling are not required. This tool is an optional setting that can be selected when creating or editing a FIB question.
When creating a new FIB assessment question:
Toggle the AI Auto Evaluation setting to the on position to engage the AI grading tool.

Select to edit the question and then toggle the AI Auto Evaluation setting to the on position.

Grading
When a student completes an assessment that includes AI Auto Evaluation, the confirmation message will indicate that the assessment is awaiting evaluation.

AI auto evaluation typically takes a couple minutes. During this time, if the student tries to view the assessment, he will see a message that the assessment evaluation is in progress.

As soon as the AI auto evaluation is complete, the results will be visible to the student.

The teacher can still select “evaluate” and make point or feedback adjustments.

If the teacher prefers to review the AI auto evaluation results prior to the students viewing the final result, the teacher should select to delay the release of the results when distributing the assessment to the students. If a release delay is selected, the student FIB assessments will still be AI auto evaluated within a couple minutes, but the results will be hidden from students until the date/time selected by the teacher, giving the teacher ample opportunity to review and edit any points or feedback.
